What is NaNoWriMo?

NaNoWriMo is short for National Novel Writing Month. It was created by Chris Baty as a way to help keep himself motivated when writing. Since then, it has taken off to where even the name is misleading: this event has gone INTERNATIONAL!

What is the purpose of NaNoWriMo?

The goal of NaNoWriMo is to write a minimum of 50,000 words in 30 days—the thirty days of November.

What do you have to write?

According to the Official Rules of NaNoWriMo, a novel—which is inherently fiction—is what should be written in the month. However, there are plenty of Rebels who choose to write whatever they choose, whether it’s a collection of short stories, a memoir, a biography, or even thesis papers for school! The energy of NaNoWriMo helps to encourage words and getting things done.
